A Letter to My Missionary

My Darling Timothy,

Today is the day! The day that you’re becoming a missionary! I can’t say that I’m as ready as I would like, but I am always here to support you as best as I can.

Canada is so lucky to be getting such an amazing man. You’re an example of everything I want to become. You’re patient, you’re kind, you’re generous and loving and understanding and contemplative and so incredibly smart. I honestly don’t know how you do it all.

I know it’s going to be hard not to be able to see you for the next two years, but I grew up knowing that the hardest things in life are the things that are most worth it. You’re worth it to me, and you will always be worth it.

Your mission will probably be the hardest thing you’ll ever do in life. It will push you to the very limits, but at those limits, you will find yourself. You will reach your full potential – the potential I saw in you from the very beginning.

Timothy, my darling missionary, I will always wait for you. I will always love you, and I will always be so, so proud of you.

There’s a quote about missionaries that I love: “A missionary spends 2 years away from their loved ones so others can spend eternity with theirs.” My love, that’s exactly what you’re doing, and you will be so blessed for your sacrifices.

I know that you are on exactly the right path that God set out for you. I know it doesn’t include all the things you hoped to do, but that’s okay. It happens sometimes. As long as you have faith and keep pushing forward, it won’t even matter in the end.

These next couple of years are going to be so hard in so many ways, but I promise that they will be worth it. I believe in God, and I believe in you. If those were the only two things I could believe in, it would be enough for me. I know that you can do this, and I will always be here to support you.

You are the one I’ve chosen, and I will choose you again and again for the rest of eternity.

I love you so much Timothy. I’ll see you in two!

Love, always and forever,
